We have been gathering resources and discussing how to bring the VCSE sector in Milton Keynes together to tackle hate-fuelled speech and activity in our communities. This follows feedback from the Refugee Support Network and growing concerns about the rise of hate locally.
We have already listed a range of useful resources on our website (see here) and are committed to sharing more information and tools to support this important work. We are also connecting with other infrastructure charities across the country and making use of resources and communications shared by our national partners such as NAVCA, NCVO and VCSEP. By working together, we can access more knowledge and support, and help spread messages of unity and welcome.
We want to highlight the stories of people from all backgrounds in Milton Keynes - showing both the values they bring and the challenges they face. Whether it’s seeking asylum, dealing with poverty, or facing discrimination (or a combination of these or other issues), everyone’s experiences matter. By sharing these stories, we aim to focus on the support people need, not the divisions within our communities.
If you are an individual (resident or volunteer) or represent a local group and would like to share a story or case study of someone you support, we would like to hear from you.
