Churches Together in Milton Keynes

We are a network of Christian communities in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. We are working together to show God’s love to the Borough and City of Milton Keynes.

Our current priority is to build a strong network of committed member congregations.

We have a particular concern with Poverty, Climate Justice, Refugees, Racial Justice and Mental Health.

A Just City - Workshop on Social Justice in Milton Keynes

Not Just a City: a Just City

Workshop on Social Justice in Milton Keynes

There will be broadly three parts:
  • keynote speech from Dr Chris Shannahan of Coventry University
  • a time of small group discussions
  • some brief presentations on means of tackling the issues
It will be framed by the goal of working towards a ‘manifesto for a Just City’ for Milton Keynes. The idea is that the small groups will contribute material that will be worked up into chapters of the manifesto. The manifesto then becomes a basis for campaigning.

More broadly, it is an opportunity for a broad range of people with an interest in making social justice a priority for our city to get together and talk. Talking is not a sufficient condition for change but it is necessary!

As Desmond Tutu said:

“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.”
