MK Foodbank are celebrating after receiving significant National Lottery funding to support the expansion of their mobile top-up shop service.
They write:
"Launched at the end of 2022, our mobile top-up shop service supports people on low incomes who need longer-term support. The top-up shop provides a range of long-life, stock cupboard food and cooking ingredients at a very low cost and individuals can purchase any 10 items for £2 and couples and families 20 items for £4. The service aims to increase independence and freedom of choice, and ultimately help people to take control of their lives.
Our fully-equipped mobile van currently stops at five locations across Milton Keynes. Funding from the Community Organisations Cost of Living Fund delivered by The National Lottery Community Fund, will enable us to expand this to 10, allowing us to increase the number of people registered for our service this winter. Thanks to @dcmsgovuk and @TNLCommunityFund for providing this vital funding."
