People in neighbourhoods around the UK are having to decide between eating or heating. Social isolation is a rising issue in our communities, and warm spaces can be a lifeline for individuals who can otherwise feel alone.
Warm Welcome exists to help people connect with warm spaces across the country. If your church is already providing a free, regular opportunity for people to meet together, receive hospitality and keep warm, please register for free with Warm Welcome to make sure your event is ‘on the map’.
This will make your space much easier for people to find. If you’ve never offered a warm space before, a range of suggestions, including how to apply for funding to run your space can be found. Visit the Warm Welcome website.
3 Reasons to register your Warm Welcome Space for this Winter's Campaign:
#1 Combatting social isolation -
#2 To help build a stronger, more compassionate community -
Running a space invites community members to get involved through volunteering or offering donations, fostering a culture of giving and compassion within the community, reinforcing the idea that everyone has a role to play in supporting those in need.
#3 Addressing poverty needs during the cost of living crisis - Warm Welcome Spaces provide a warm and safe haven for those suffering from the cost of living crisis. Having a visible and active warm welcome space in the community can increase awareness and provide a sanctuary for those suffering.
