Churches Together in Milton Keynes

We are a network of Christian communities in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. We are working together to show God’s love to the Borough and City of Milton Keynes.

Our current priority is to build a strong network of committed member congregations.

We have a particular concern with Poverty, Climate Justice, Refugees, Racial Justice and Mental Health.

Youthwork+ : Update and a Request for Help!

MK based Youthwork+ write:

"Some of what we've been up to....

We were invited to have a stand at the MK Churches Together Mission Fair where we got to connect with some new youth leaders and church leaders. We also were invited to have a stand at the MK Civic Prayer Breakfast (below) which was a great place for us to showcase what we do with church leaders and key local figures from the community sector.

We had quite a few encouraging coffees with youth and kids leaders last academic year including connecting in with our new friend John Prockter who runs Catalyst Trust in Shropshire. We also hosted our first podcast interview with a youth worker, Ruth Huxley from Urban Devotion in Birmingham."

Youth and Kids work is vital for the future of the church!
Which means those that do youth and kids ministry are our absolute heroes!  We're all about supporting the workers and volunteers that do youth and kids ministry, in churches, in the community and in schools.  We aim to encourage, equip, and cheer on those in roles focused on kids and kids and youth to make sure they feel supported, equipped and passionate about their ministry and stay in their roles for longer to see more young lives transformed.

How you can get involved in our work...

Pray
  • Pray for our work and those we connect with who need our support, for deeper connections and wisdom & insight for us to provide relevant help
  • Pray for new connections with those who need our support and encouragement
  • Pray for churches to catch a vision for youth and kids work
  • Pray for more churches to be inspired to engage with youth and kids in their local communities
  • Pray for all the job vacancies locally & across the country for youth and kids workers that God would inspire people to apply
  • Pray for donations to come in so we can continue doing the vital work we do
  • Pray for people to be inspired to donate to our work
  • Pray about how God wants you to get involved or support our work

Donate
We need to raise our regular income by at least £200 a month by Christmas to be able to continue our important work supporting youth and kids ministry leaders.

Our initial first 2 years was covered by a grant which has now finished, we do have some money in the bank (which is running out!) and a regular £200 coming in (thanks to 6 hero regular donors!).  Our regular monthly expenses are between £400 and £500 so our bank balance is currently depleting every month. Our running costs include a small 6 hours a week salary, website running costs, event costs, buying licences to deliver training, buying resources for the library, buying coffees for youth and kids leaders etc.

We're looking for at least 23 more people to invest in our important work by beginning small affordable regular donations to us of between £10 and £30 a month.  Could this be you?  Please consider if you could make a small regular donation.

Giving monthly has a greater impact as it increases our sustainability but we also welcome one-off gifts from those who cannot commit to regular donations.

If you are willing and able to donate regularly or as a one-off you can do so through our donations platform Raisely via debit or credit card or bank account using the link below.

Could your church invest in our work by donating to us as a one off or regular amount?  Perhaps your church could give a small gift of £10, £30 or £50 a month to Youthwork+? Your church can donate through our donations platform Raisely or feel free to contact us directly for our bank details.

MK Network for Youth and Kids Leaders
We have over 20 members who are either employed in kids/youth/family focused roles or are volunteers from across many church denominations. We have a WhatsApp support group which we use as our main contact point for the network, all the coffee dates get posted there as well as requests for peer support or relevant events we or others are running.

We also meet for coffee every half term - coffee is on us - it's a chance to meet others who do youth and kids work in other churches or for local charities in schools or the community locally and catch up with us at Youthwork+.  Our network members benefit from feeling part of the bigger picture, being able to work together, peer support and encouragement.  We've also run other useful events locally including Retreats and Resource Showcases.

Recommended Resource Library

Home to over 90 resources that have been reviewed and recommended for use with either kids, families, youth or youth leaders.  There's a real mix here from discipleship focused resources to games and icebreakers and a mix of free or paid for, but we always try to find affordable ones.  The aim is to recommend tried and tested resources, some that can be adapted for different contexts, to save youth and kids leaders valuable time in scouring the internet to find decent resources that you know will work with your group.
